Medieval Sceptre Terminal. Circa 12th-13th century AD. Copper-alloy, 37.06g. 48.46 mm. An impressive open-work terminal formed of eight sides, each one having a cross or lattice type pattern covered with raised pellets. The top and each of the projecting corners has a large round knop. At the base of the piece is a square socketed collar with two fixing holes for securing it to the shaft of the sceptre. Ref: London Museum Medieval Catalogue, page 23 fig.2:1 and 2;2.
